When you think of masks, you probably think of a costume you wear around Halloween, but think again! Created by Symbaloo user Kate Hemphill, a high school, theatre teacher, this week’s lesson plan identifies the differences in masks in different time periods and their role in theatre.
Kate states that, “there was a time when masks were required for certain characters or certain types of plays that were presented to an audience, and most of the time they had a significant meaning.” Check out this week’s featured lesson plan to learn more about masks and their meaning!
The pathway features 14 steps containing images of masks, articles, etc. and questions after each mask featured. Students will also explore embedded websites to learn more about Commedia Dell’Arte and its characters that use unique masks.
AVERAGE DURATION: 60 minutes
